the bike has had some intense cleaning, and restoraion work done to the bottom bracket and crankset. 55years of grease and grime were removed to reveal a pristine chain ring, the cottered crank arms (one nut is missing (still holds well) and is not a thread size u find at the local hardware store) cleaned up mostly though they had a considerable amount of rust on them in places. The old caked grease was removed from bottom bracket area the bearing inspected and repaced with fresh grease. the chain was replaced with a nice newer one. The dropouts were slightly ground to accept the modern 3/8 axle size wheel set. with the rear old school coaster brakes, this enabled me to remove the old (ugly) caliper brakes, along with their unsightly cables and levers. this provides for an exceptional clean old vintage look that in my opinon far exceeds the look of most other vintage Hercules type bike that have the brakes and cables really interfering with the over all ascetics. The wheelset is unbranded but performs well with the double walled construction, they spin true and smooth. The Bontrager tires are not a matching set but are high quality and in like new condition. the original seat post was removed, cleaned and operates proper, along with the original clamp bolt and nut, the seat, peddles, handlebars and grips were merely cleaned and left to maintain its vintage character. the seat height is 36" as pictured, 31.5" stand over, with a 21.5" old school frame measurement.
